At GreenPrint Projects, we value diverse ways of thinking and doing.
It hasn’t always been this way.
Many Australian regions, including south-west Victoria, are seeing increasing numbers of young people who struggle in traditional education settings that emphasise academic outcomes at the expense of connection, creativity and wellbeing. A key reason students disengage from school is because learning feels disconnected from real life and offers limited opportunities for creativity, agency or belonging. This challenge is particularly visible in regional areas, where students report that school experiences don’t reflect their community, environment or practical interests.
Diverse learners - including those who have cognitive or social needs, are neuro-divergent or face cultural or socio-economic barriers - often disengage from conventional classrooms that limit movement, sensory engagement and the chance to be part of something exploratory and lasting. Declining attendance is often linked with reduced engagement and requires new approaches beyond standard education models.
Meanwhile, reviews of nature-based and outdoor learning indicate measurable gains in socio-emotional wellbeing, academic outcomes and engagement when students participate in hands-on, green-space programs.
Through our engaging workshops and new green spaces on school grounds and in public areas, participants develop skills, build confidence and reconnect with learning in meaningful, enduring ways.

Meet Chantal
GreenPrint Projects Facilitator
Horticulturalist, flower and agricultural farmer
Chantal brings extensive horticulture and land management experience and proudly describes herself as a ‘mad gardener’. What she loves most about gardening is that there is a place for everyone in it - a belief reflected in her work managing her own flower and nursery business.
Growing up gardening alongside her grandparents and parents, Chantal developed deep intergenerational skills and knowledge that now fuel her passion for nature-based learning. Having experienced firsthand the restorative power of plants, she is deeply committed to helping people reconnect with the natural world around them.
Kind Words
"The educational gardening program has been a transformative addition to our curriculum. It provides a living classroom where abstract concepts in science and sustainability become real. Watching the students take ownership of their learning, from planting seeds to harvesting produce, has been incredibly rewarding."
— Gina Mills, Warrnambool Primary School
