Emmanuel College Wetland – Stage 1

Partners: Emmanuel College - Vocational Pathway Certificate & Outdoor Education and Worn Gundidj Nursery.

Emmanuel College, students led Stage 1 of a wetland reinvigoration project, planting 118 trees to restore habitat and strengthen the ecological health of the campus landscape.

Project Overview

In Term 4, 2025, GreenPrint Projects delivered an environmental learning and restoration project at Emmanuel College, working with 12 Year 10 Vocational Pathways Certificate students and 22 Year 11 Outdoor Education students.

The project focused on restoring and enhancing a wetland landscape while providing students with practical, hands-on environmental learning experiences.

Site Preparation and Environmental Action

Students prepared the site by collecting rubbish and documenting and weighing the material collected. This provided an authentic opportunity to understand the environmental impact of waste while contributing directly to the restoration of their school grounds. The collection and recording process also incorporated data collection, measurement and documentation into the learning experience.

Revegetation and Habitat Creation

A total of 118 trees were planted across the site. Plant selections were carefully considered for their suitability to a wetland environment, with an emphasis on establishing habitat and encouraging native wildlife.
